Alaska Airlines announced today a firm order for 20 737 MAX 8s, 17 737 MAX 9s and 13 Next-Generation 737 -900ERs. The order, with a current list-price value of $5 billion, is the largest in Alaska Airlines ‘ history. Alaska Airlines currently operates 120 Boeing 737s.
Northwest and Pan Am at different times operated Boeing 747 wide body jetliners on their services to Alaska with Northwest flying Seattle–Anchorage nonstop with the jumbo jet and Pan Am flying Seattle–Fairbanks nonstop with the 747 .
However, the most popular guesses include native Alaskans Oliver Amouak and Chester Seveck. Seveck was a reindeer herder and Eskimo dancer from Kotzebue. He and his wife used to greet incoming flights. Amouak was an Inupiat Eskimo who had been hired by the airline in the late 1950s for a traveling stage show.

Permanently parking more aircraft In the first quarter, Alaska decided to remove 12 Airbus aircraft from its fleet permanently. This included all ten of its Airbus A319s. As of now, there are no further Airbus retirements anticipated in 2020, though that does not mean that it will stay that way.
If you end up on one of Alaska’s Boeing 737 aircraft instead of an Airbus, it won’t be quite as comfortable – legroom is 31” in Economy, 35” in Premium Class, and 41” in First.

The facilities at Paine Field were built in 1936, and the intention was for it to be a sizeable commercial airport. However, it became a base for official operations during WWII. According to Paine Field’s website, Alaska Airlines may have also used the large WWII military hanger at the site.
