The Alaska Railroad’s Glacier Discovery route offers daily summer service from Anchorage to Whittier in the morning, with an evening return trip. The train ride usually takes just under 2 1/2 hours in each direction, and the Whittier train schedule allows plenty of time for a glacier day cruise in Prince William Sound.
Whittier Tunnel Tickets start at $13. All tickets are round trip. Check out the tunnels fees for different sized vehicles.

Cruise ships do not dock in Anchorage . It’s either Whittier or Seward.
Most cruises dock at either the port at Whittier or Seward as the nearest gateway to Anchorage and bus or train their passengers to the city from those ports (which are about two hours away).
Anchorage only has one port and even though it is the largest city in Alaska the port is actually in an industrial area and not often used. Anchorage is not a popular embarkation port but for the cruise ships which do dock there are free shuttles are often available to take guests to the nearby downtown.
