How Many Time Zones Are There in Alaska ? Almost all of Alaska observes Alaska Standard Time (AKST) with the corresponding Daylight Saving Time (DST) designation Alaska Daylight Time (AKDT).

The Hawaii-Aleutian standard time zone, includes the entire State of Hawaii and, in the State of Alaska, that part of the Aleutian Islands that is west of 169 degrees 30 minutes west longitude. Hawaii does not use daylight saving time , however daylight saving time is observed in the Aleutian Islands and Alaska.
Since Anchorage , Alaska and Fairbanks , Alaska are in the same time zone , you can call someone during your normal hours and it will be the same time in Fairbanks , AK as it is in Anchorage , AK. This will be between 7AM – 11PM their time , since Fairbanks , Alaska is in the same time zone as Anchorage , Alaska.
Alaska consolidated to two time zones – Alaska Time and Hawaii-Aleutian Time – in 1983 to put our state capitol, Juneau, on the same time zone as the more populated Anchorage and Fairbanks (and to make doing business with companies in the Lower 48 states a little easier).
