Kodiak is a great place to live . The scenery is beautiful, the fishing is fantastic, and the hiking and hunting are amazing! Kodiak has several small villages accessible by plane or boat only. Our weather is warmer in the winter than mainland Alaska , but cooler in the summer, with more rain than you may be used to.
Kodiak Island , sitting off the Southern coast of Alaska in the Kodiak Archipelago, is home to the city of Kodiak , Alaska’s largest fishing port, famous for catches of king crab and salmon.
With a crime rate of 51 per one thousand residents, Kodiak has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes – from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One’s chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 19.
For an isolated town on an island accessed only by ferry or plane, Kodiak has a surprisingly good road system with access to beaches, mountains, state parks, and historic sites.

Kodiak is a city on an island off of Alaska . There’s about 14,000 people that live here and it’s the most unique place I’ve ever lived. Kodiak’s a huge fishing community and there’s tons of marine life. There’s also a huge coast guard base on the island which adds to the uniqueness.
