To become a resident , you need to be physically present in the state, and you must have the intention to stay in Alaska for an indefinite period. Physical presence alone is not a sufficient condition for obtaining residency .
All residents age 18 or older and nonresidents age 16 or older must purchase and possess a sport fishing license to participate in Alaska sport and personal use fisheries. In addition, a king salmon stamp is required to fish for king salmon.
