FasTrak is the preferred method of payment on The Toll Roads. FasTrak drivers affix a transponder to their vehicle’s windshield and when they pass through a tolling point the toll is automatically deducted from their account via their preferred payment method: charge, invoice or prepaid.
You may open your FasTrak account with a credit card, cash or check. If you link your account to a valid credit card, FasTrak collects an initial prepaid balance for tolls of $25 per toll tag. Your account will be automatically replenished as needed.

Yes. Except for the Golden Gate Bridge (see below), if you pass through a bridge toll lane without a valid FasTrak and without paying the toll, or if you travel in an express lane without a valid FasTrak tag, an image of your license plate will be captured. First notice issued: toll plus $25 penalty.
The express lanes will operate from 5 am to 8 pm, Monday through Friday. They are free for all drivers on weekends and weeknights. 3-person carpools, buses, vanpools and motorcycles must use a FasTrak Flex toll tag set to 3+ to travel toll free . 2-person carpools pay a toll.
The MMT is the minimum usage required for a FasTrak account and is based on the number of transponders assigned to the account ($3.50 per account plus $1 per transponder). MMT and Fee Schedule:

It’s your responsibility to remove the fast track and put it in the bag provided which blocks the signal keeping you from being charged. While you travel the express Lane, those without a FastTrack will trigger a warning light for cops up ahead to check and make sure you are a carpool .
It’s easy. The toll tag does all the work—no more fumbling for cash! It saves money. On the Golden Gate Bridge, all FasTrak users pay a discounted toll rate.
CHECK THE SIGN: When crossing a toll bridge, check the Driver Feedback Display at the toll plaza. If it doesn’t say “VALID FASTRAK ,” your toll tag may be defective. CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT: Log in to your FasTrakaccount and review your transactions.
What happens if I use an express lane as a solo driver and without a FasTrak toll tag? You will be in violation of the California Vehicle Code and subject to a citation and fine if caught by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
