Coal Bank Pass – Silverton-Durango. Just south of Colorado’s famous “Million Dollar Highway,” Coal Bank Pass is a 10,610 ft (3,234 m) mountain pass accessible by nearly all passenger vehicles, weather pending. The top of the pass is located 14 miles south of Silverton and 34 miles north of Durango.

1. Re: Telluride or Ouray for overnight? Both Telluride and Ouray are very picturesque, historic, and charming, IMO. Telluride would be the more glitzy of the two, and somewhat more expensive, (usually), because it has become such a resort
Drive The Million Dollar Highway US Highway 550 is also known as the Million Dollar Highway. A stretch of this route will take you straight from Durango to Silverton in just over an hour. While it is a tricky road, it offers beautiful views of the nearby mountains.
