You can use a bow during rifle season , provided the requisite amount of orange is worn and you have a tag for that species-unit. You can also use a crossbow during rifle season if that trips your trigger. You can ‘t use a bow with a ML tag, however.

GMU 11 – Moffat and Rio Blanco Counties The large elk herd occupies all available habitat. The later seasons are usually better, especially on public land, due to snow and hunting pressure pushing the elk out of the adjacent units. The success rate is very good on late cow elk hunts.
It is legal to have two elk licenses as long as one of them is an antlerless elk from a unit listed in list B in the Big Game Brochure.

Colorado hunters under age 12 may not take big game ( deer , elk, moose, bear, etc.). Hunting on private land in Colorado requires permission from the owner or occupant.
WEAPONS RESTRICTIONS • Under Colorado law, convicted felons are prohibited from possessing any firearms or other weapons, which include muzzleloaders and archery equipment. Therefore, any convicted felon cannot hunt in Colorado .
Under Colorado law, intentionally feeding big game animals is illegal. The prohibition applies to deer, elk , pronghorn, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, mountain lions, and bears. Violators face a $100 fine.
Do You Need a Hunting License to Hunt on Private Land ? In Colorado , limited licenses are distributed for big game hunting . Big game licenses are limited to a number of specific units and hunting seasons. Private – land -only licenses can be applied for with special permission from a landowner.
The Colorado County Commissioners Court has budgeted $2,000 (200 coyotes ) for 2019. They can be checked in at M-G in Weimar, Colorado Feed in Columbus or Bernardo Farm and Ranch. The check station will provide you with a bounty data/voucher form which must be completed and mailed to the county judge’s office.
Legal – Cow or a Bull with 4 points on one side or 5″ brow tines. No Spikes or bulls smaller than stated. Bull = at least 4 points on one side, or a brow tine = legal. That leave any elk with more than a 5″ spike and less than 4 points, off limits.
There is no such thing as a back-up sidearm during hunting season. You may carry a handgun with you during the act of hunting for personal protection but that is the purpose. During archery season, no firearm can be used as a legal method of take.
No, there are no grizzly bears in Rocky Mountain National Park or the entire state of Colorado , but at one time, there were. The Rocky Mountains of Colorado used to be home to an abundance of grizzly bears until they were declared extinct in Colorado in 1953.
The general archery season opens between the end (3rd or 4th week) of August and runs four weeks into September. Muzzleloader season , which, in my opinion, is probably the premium Colorado elk hunting season , runs in the middle of the archery season (September 8th to the 16th this year).
