Get Picked in the Drawing Between January 30 through February 13, NYRR accepted applications for the drawing, which takes place on February 26. If your name is picked, that’s certainly the easiest way to ensure you line up on Staten Island in November. But the drawing is notoriously selective.
$825,000 — 2017 NYC Marathon Prize Purse While there are some potential time bonuses that can be paid to some participants, this is the guaranteed prize money for the entire 2017 NYC Marathon field.
Watch for this year’s big run in the Big Apple to kick off on Sunday morning, November 1, 2020 beginning at 9AM with the starting line at the city’s famous Verrazono-Narrows Bridge in Staten Island. Any individual who has completed 15 or more New York City Marathons , along with entrants in the previous year’s marathon who had to cancel prior to the race, are eligible for guaranteed entry. The TCS NYC Marathon also has other programs, which may change from year to year, that provide guaranteed entry.

The TCS New York City Marathon entry fee is $255 . If you complete the “9 + 1 program,” which is one of the few ways to guarantee yourself a spot at the starting line, that means finishing, and paying for, nine qualifying races. When you factor in training, the experience as a whole is pricey and time consuming.

The fastest overall man and woman each win $150,000. Second place for each category gets $75,000, and third takes home $40,000. The rest of the top 15 win prize money as follows: Fourth: $25,000.
