Watch for this year’s big run in the Big Apple to kick off on Sunday morning, November 1, 2020 beginning at 9AM with the starting line at the city’s famous Verrazono-Narrows Bridge in Staten Island. Any individual who has completed 15 or more New York City Marathons , along with entrants in the previous year’s marathon who had to cancel prior to the race, are eligible for guaranteed entry. The TCS NYC Marathon also has other programs, which may change from year to year, that provide guaranteed entry.
The TCS New York City Marathon entry fee is $255 . If you complete the “9 + 1 program,” which is one of the few ways to guarantee yourself a spot at the starting line, that means finishing, and paying for, nine qualifying races. When you factor in training, the experience as a whole is pricey and time consuming.
The fastest overall man and woman each win $150,000. Second place for each category gets $75,000, and third takes home $40,000. The rest of the top 15 win prize money as follows: Fourth: $25,000.
Each charity can set its own fundraising minimum as long as it is at least $3,000 per runner. Community Level Partners commit to 5 or 10 guaranteed entries in the TCS New York City Marathon .
How to Get Into the 2020 NYC Marathon Enter the drawing. Run for Team for Kids. Run for another charity partner. Live abroad, and book your trip through an NYRR international travel partner. Have 15+ NYC Marathons under your belt. Qualify based on time. Claim a deferred entry. Participate in NYRR’s 9+1 (or 9+$1K) Program.
By the numbers According to the Boston Marathon media guide, the Boston marathon has an estimated 500,000 spectators and the New York marathon has an estimated 1,000,000+ spectators. So in terms of sheer numbers there is no question you have more people cheering you on in New York .
