Anchorage is in Southcentral Alaska , at the terminus of the Cook Inlet, on a peninsula formed by the Knik Arm to the north and the Turnagain Arm to the south.

It is large primarily because so many people have moved here, and those that were born here. The size is limited to a certain extent by terrain. So many people think they can move here and become rich, but the reality is lots of homeless and many more on welfare, and even more on the edge, living paycheck to paycheck.
