The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) officially opened the Road to Tanana in late August 2016.
The Tanana Valley is a lowland region in central Alaska in the United States, on the north side of the Alaska Range where the Tanana River emerges from the mountains. Traditional inhabitants of the valley are Tanana Athabaskans of Alaskan Athabaskans.

The Dalton Highway, a.k.a., the “haul road”, is 414 miles long and connects the Elliott Highway ( north of Fairbanks) to Deadhorse, Alaska — the farthest north you can drive on Alaska’s road system.
On May 1, 2014, two Alaska State Troopers were killed in Tanana after responding to a report of a resident brandishing a gun in an altercation over the private sale of a $150 couch.
He is not married yet.
Trooper Gabe Rich and Sergeant Scott Johnson were shot and killed while investigating reports that a person had brandished a firearm in the village of Tanana several days earlier. He was convicted of both murders and sentenced to 203 years in prison.
