Nestled between the coast and the West Maui Mountains, Lahaina is known for its long history as well as the gateway to Kapalua and Ka’anapali beach resorts. Front Street shopping, oceanfront restaurants and stunning mountain scenery are just a few of the reasons to visit this seaside town.
The west side of Maui includes Kaanapali, Honokowai, Kahana , Napili , Kapalua and Lahaina. Kaanapali Beach is my favorite area of Maui to stay on. This is the luxury part of the west side of Maui. There are several large hotels with elaborate pools, grounds and lobbies, plus a couple large luxury condos.

The best times to visit Maui are April through May and September through November. The spring and fall shoulder seasons provide the pleasant weather Hawaii vacationers seek without the high rates and heavy crowds that accompany the summer and winter.
Maui is generally a safe place, both for visitors and those of us who live here. Our island welcomes nearly 3 million visitors each year, and the vast majority of those people experience nothing more distressing than a sunburn. Crime does exist on Maui .

It can take a toll on one’s nerves, especially if one is used to driving on wide, multiple-lane highways . That’s why the Road to Hana is also known as the “ Divorce Highway ,” because it has caused quite a few arguments among some couples. The Road to Hana is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This trip takes approximately 7.0 hours to complete and the Road to Hana is considered the 5th most dangerous road in the world. There is nothing but sharp – blind turns, one way roads , one car bridges on roads that continuously turned and not wide enough for two cars.
How safe do you feel in this area? Very safe . There is really no crime to speak of.
‘Ohe’o Gulch. ( Seven Sacred Pools ) When water levels are safe, there are many pools open to swimming . (Obey all signs here, as some areas are known for rock slides and have killed people.
How much time do you need in Maui? We recommend at least one week in order to experience all that Maui has to offer. While you can get a flavor of Maui even if you just visit for a day or two, as a minimum, try to plan 3 to 5 days in Maui.
Do I need a car to get around on Maui ? You can get around Maui by shuttle, tour bus, taxi or public transportation. But to really experience Maui , you should consider reserving a rental car in advance from the Kahului or Kapalua airports.
