1. The ” Five – O ” slang for police came from this television show. Believe it or not, the TV series originated it. The series’ title actually was an homage to Hawaii being the 50th state of the U.S.A. Hawaii Five – O used the numerals as the fictional police division on the show.
O’Loughlin suffered a serious back injury during the early seasons of the show, and has been dealing with effects from it ever since. There was speculation that he may leave the show two years ago but he stayed on after receiving stem cell treatment. I hear this time around, he felt he could not continue.
The 43-year-old revealed why in a 2015 interview. “I do five episodes less than Alex. I just do a couple episodes less so I can come home to see my family and stuff,” the Los Angeles resident, who shoots the show in Hawaii , explained to TV writer Rob Owen.
He shoots Danny , who is immediately rushed to the hospital by the entire Five-0 team. With Danny’s life hanging in the balance, a despairing McGarrett, who’s been dealing with parental ghosts and an existential crisis all season, goes to the chapel but can’t find solace there.
Alex O’Loughlin (41) has played Comander Steve McGarrett since the show was first aired in 2010. The 41-year-old has been married to Malia Jones (41) since 2014.
So why did the duo decide to retire from the small screen? It turns out there’s a pretty solid reason for the ending. According to Deadline, both Alex O’Loughlin (Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett) and Scott Caan’s (Detective Sergeant Danny “Danno” Williams) contracts ended at the conclusion of season 10.
Industry sources said O’Loughlin and Caan are making about $200,000 per episode apiece for the upcoming eighth season of the show, produced by CBS Television Studios.
Five-O, an American slang term for law enforcement.
The “ fuzz ” was a derogatory slang term for police officers used in the late 60s/early 70s, popular among hippies. The research I have done states it originated in England as it referred to the felt covering on the helmet worn by members of the Metropolitan Police Service.

Born in Canberra, Australia, and raised in Sydney, Alex O’Loughlin’s thick Aussie accent is nowhere to be heard on “Hawaii Five-0,” where he plays the lead character Steve McGarrett. “I heard that some people thought I was American,” says the 34-year-old actor during a break from shooting in Honolulu.
Though O’Loughlin returned to Hawaii Five-0, it wasn’t clear how much longer he’d be able to continue in his highly physical role as McGarrett. Though he agreed to a one-year contract extension in May 2019, the future beyond that was uncertain. “I believe Alex wanted this to be his last year,” Lenkov told TVLine.
Ha is what gives aloha its deeper meaning, and in this case, it is a sharing of friendship and brotherhood. It wasn’t until McGarrett says , “A hui hou,” which means “until we meet again” that really made his exit feel a little hopeful.
