1. How do the Oregon Coronavirus County Risk Levels impact my experience? The latest efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 do not change much for visitors. Oregon State Parks and campgrounds will remain open, and visitors should continue to wear face coverings and give plenty of space to others.
The Siuslaw’s campgrounds , day use areas, and trails continue to be open for public enjoyment.
The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is located on the Oregon Coast, stretching approximately 40 miles (64 km) north of the Coos River in North Bend to the Siuslaw River in Florence , and adjoining Honeyman State Park on the west.
Can I drive on the beach in Oregon ? The short answer, yes. Driving is permitted on certain beaches during specific seasons/months/times of day, however, some beaches have limited driving access. There are plenty of beaches where driving is not permitted (Seaside, Lincoln City, Cannon Beach , etc).
Area Status: Open Horsfall Campground , tucked in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, provides access to miles and miles of dunes, beckoning off-road vehicle riding enthusiasts.
OREGON STATE PARKS BEACH FIRE BAN Valve-operated propane fire pits are allowed in coastal parks and on beaches . No beach fires (wood, charcoal or other open flames) allowed on any ocean beach . Campfires are not allowed in day-use area fire rings in coastal parks.
Some of Oregon’s popular state parks will stay closed at least through the summer due to budget cuts amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department said it’s currently facing a $22 million budget gap, forcing many parks and recreation sites around the state to operate with limited services.
Typically, dispersed camping is NOT allowed in the vicinity of developed recreation areas such as campgrounds , boat ramps, picnic areas or trailheads. There are extra responsibilities and skills that are necessary for dispersed camping . It’s your responsibility to know these before you try this new experience.
