It is possible to visit both Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks in one day . These two National Parks are only 1.5 hours of driving time always from each other so with travel between parks it is possible and can be done fairly easily.
Both of these Parks offer great outdoor activities for all ages. For canyoneering and rappelling, Zion beats Bryce . You’ll find world-class hiking in either Park, but in Zion you can find yourself hiking through streams or on sandstone ledges, like Angels Landing – one of the scariest hikes in the world!
Bryce Canyon is compact, at least for a National Park . One day is all you need to explore this park . With one day , you can hike through a garden of hoodoos, take in the view from multiple viewpoints, and thoroughly explore the park . If you have less than one day , that’s OK too.

Some of the majestic scenery in Bryce Canyon National Park can be seen by auto touring, no hiking needed. You can enjoy all of the park’s major overlooks if you get out of your car and take leisurely strolls out to the edge of the pavement.
Zion is just as beautiful, more accessible and less crowded much of the year than the Grand Canyon , where the rim walking paths and the main trails into the canyon can be packed with people during peak travel seasons. You won’t need your car much, either.
The Virgin River is cold ! Current readings of temperature in the virgin river is 38°F/3°C. The changing seasons mean visitors to the park should come prepared and plan ahead for hiking or visiting Zion in colder weather.

If you are looking to do a few short hikes, drive around the park, and do some photography 2 days in Zion and a day in Bryce should suffice. If you are a bit of an adventurer and want to do some of the longer day hikes, and a canyoneering experience, add a day or two.
How long does it take to visit Bryce Canyon ? It takes a minimum of 3 hours to drive to the 13 viewpoints along the park’s 38-mile (round-trip) scenic drive. In addition, there are hiking trails, ranger programs, horseback rides, campgrounds and picnic areas to greater enhance and extend your visit .
