East Canyon State Park is located in the mountains northeast of Salt Lake City. It is along the historic route where groups including Latter-day Saint pioneers and the Donner Party crossed the mountains. Today a beautiful reservoir is found in the mountain valley.
Getting There: From Salt Lake City: (THANKSGIVING -MOTHERS DAY THIS ROAD IS CLOSED.. USE THE OGDEN DIRECTIONS) Take Interstate 80 east for six miles, take the Emigration/ East Canyon Exit, then 21 miles northeast on State Road 65, then a mile west on State Road 66 (north end of reservoir ).

Echo Reservoir is a venue for year-round fishing, summertime boating, swimming , hiking, camping, and mountain biking, and wintertime fun such as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
Many fishing areas are still open during this ongoing COVID-19 situation, although we strongly encourage you to follow federal, state and county guidelines for social distancing and recreation if you choose to go outdoors. Most importantly, if you are feeling sick, please stay home.
