At night , there’s projected colored lights onto the ice and it feels more enclosed because it’s so dark outside. During the day, it feels a lot more open and the blue of the ice really stands out. It’s also way easier to take pictures. See all the memories below.
Our Co-Creator, Mother Nature, makes all Ice Castles unique – including the schedule. Typically we open in late December or early January. Our colder locations will open before our warmer locations. And we remain open through late February or early March, depending on the weather.
Typically guests spend about 30 minutes to an hour. Whether you’re planning a visit during the day or night you can expect to have a spectacular experience. The daytime allows you to appreciate the deep blues that only the natural light of the sun brings out in the ice, as well as the details in the Ice Castles.

The simple answer, YES, IT IS WORTH IT . You are at the ice castles , now is the time to take in the whole experience and have some fun with it. The tunnels and caves are really neat to experience, and the slide is actually extremely fun!
Located in the village of Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, sits an ever-changing ice hotel that’s something out of a Disney fairy tale. The hotel is constructed entirely of ice blocks harvested from the nearby Torne River.

Warm clothes including coats, hats, gloves and winter boots are best. Shoes and boots with flat soles (like dress shoes or cowboy boots) can be slippery and are not recommended. Snow pants are recommended for all guests, especially if you’re planning on playing on the slides and crawling through tunnels.
Ice Castles requires guests to leave pets at home to provide a safer and more positive experience for all attendees, including those pets. Guests who use service animals must retain control of their animals at all times and should keep them on a leash or harness while visiting.

The Dillon ice castle location is open five days a week (typically closed Tuesday and Wednesday). Hours of operation vary by day. To best enjoy this frozen outdoor environment, you need to dress for the cold weather complete with hats and gloves as you will probably be in the elements for about 45 minutes.
Icehotel Jukkasjärvi Each year between December and April, the Icehotel in the village of Jukkasjärvi is open. It is about 17 km from Kiruna, Sweden, and it was the world’s first ice hotel . 80 rooms and suites are available. In addition to the entrance hall, the hotel has a chapel and an ice bar named Absolut Icebar.
